Televised Match In Store for Volleyball This Weekend

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team will host UTEP and Tulane this weekend in two volleyball matches at the Athletics/Alumni Center. The Cougars will play UTEP at 7 p.m. on Friday and conclude the weekend with a 2 p.m. match against Tulane.
The match against Tulane will be tape delayed on CBS College Sports to air on Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. Jason Knapp will be calling the play-by-play with Anne Marie Anderson as the analyst.
All matches will be available on Gametracker for fans to follow and streaming video of the matches will be available on the All Access site.
Admission to the match is $5.
The Cougars return to the court on Friday after losing 3-1 to Rice on Tuesday at Fox Gymnasium. Senior Justine Farmer finished the match with a game-high 21 kills. She continues to lead the league with a 3.94 kill per set average.
Sophomore Amanda Carson also finds herself ranked second in C-USA in service aces (0.41 per set) and senior Kelsey King is fourth averaging 10.65 assists per set. Sophomore Lucy Charuk is second in the league averaging 1.34 blocks per set and her .328 hitting percentage is sixth best.
Scouting UTEP
UTEP comes to Houston with a 6-15 record with a 2-6 mark in C-USA. They split matches with Marshall and ECU last weekend. The win over ECU on Sunday snapped a five match losing streak for the Miners.
Amy Sanders leads the team with 265 kills and 215 digs. Patty Jarmoc has a team-high 739 assists. UTEP leads the league in service aces, averaging 1.70 per set.
Houston split two matches with the Miners last season, winning 3-2 at home and falling 1-3 on the road. UH is 7-2 all-time against the Miners.
Scouting Tulane
Tulane comes to Houston with a 16-5 record and a 7-1 mark in C-USA. They won both matches last weekend against East Carolina and Marshall and have won five in a row. Prior to that, they registered a nine-match win streak before a 3-2 loss to UAB.
Two players have at least 250 kills for the Green Wave. Sara Radosevic has 276, while Bridget Wells has 256. Jenn Miller leads the team with 283 digs and Rachel Lindelow has a team-high 318 assists. Tulane ranks second in conference in assists (13.03/set) and kills (13.93/set).
Last season, Houston split matches against Tulane. They won 3-0 at home and were swept 3-0 on the road. Houston is 22-4 all-time against Tulane.
During the Tulane match, both teams will be recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans are welcome to wear pink to the match.

Following the weekend at home, Houston will take to the road for the final weekend of the regular season. UH will face SMU on Oct. 31 and Tulsa on Nov. 1 before returning home for the final week of the conference season on Nov. 7-13.
