Diggs Wins High Jump at Razorback Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. -- Senior Ivan Diggs cleared 2.18m(7-01.75) to win the high jump at the Razorback Invitational. It is the second win in the high jump for the Wichita, Kan., native this season.
Diggs was joined by freshman Chris Carter who set an NCAA provisional mark in the triple jump clearing 15.41m(50-06.75). The jump earned him fifth place and is currently the best jump in Conference USA.
The Cougars had 19 top-ten finished at the two-day event. This was the first time this season that Houston competed away from their home track at Yeoman Field House. They will return to Arkansas two more times this season, including the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 15-16.
In just his second collegiate long jump competition, freshman Ed Turner was eighth with a jump of 7.41m(24-03.75). His jump is currently the best in Conference USA and improved on his previous personal best of 7.36(24-01.75) set in the opening weekend of the season.
Senior Tremaine Smith was sixth place finish in the 200 meters with a finish of 21.41, tying his personal best in the event. Smith was also eighth in the 60-meter finals with a time of 6.85. Freshman Thomas Lang advanced to the consolation finals of the 60-meter hurdles and finished second with a time of 8.14.
Sophomore Brandon Hubbard added a fifth place finish in the weight throw (14.91m/48-11.00) and a sixth place finish in the shot put (14.33m/47-00.25). Sophomore Alex Bentley and freshman Derek Shutlz finished ninth and 10th in the pole vault competition.
In relay action, the men's 4x400 team finished 12th with a time of 3:15.71. While on the women's side, the distance medley relay team finished fourth with a time of 12:27.54 and the 4x400 team finished ninth.
Junior Seun Adigun paced the women in the running events; finishing eighth in the 60-meter hurdle finals and sophomore LeeA'ndrea Robinson was sixth in the consolation finals.
In the distance events, senior Adriane Guinn was sixth in the 800 meters (2:17.73) and junior Jennifer Harper was seventh. Senior Kelcee Keenan added a 15th place finish in the mile.
In the field events, freshman Kiara Pulliam finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 14.09m(46-02.75). Freshman Laura Allred added a fifth place finish in the high jump, while senior Caresir Hamilton was eighth.
In the long jump sophomore Hyleta Young was 13th, sophomore Dayo Ogunniyi was 20th and Williams was 23rd. Sophomore Quin'shundolyn McPherson was 11th in the triple jump clearing 11.28m(37-00.25).
Houston returns home for the Houston Indoor Invitational and Multis on Feb. 1-2. They will also host the Bayou City Championships on Feb. 9 before returning to Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 15-16.
