Volleyball Preps For Long Week

HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team begins four straight days of competition Wednesday when they play host to Cal State Bakersfield at 7 pm in the Athletics/Alumni Building. Wednesday's match will begin a span of five matches in four days for the Cougars.
The match against CSUB will be the first ever meeting between the two programs. The Roadrunners are 3-4 entering the match and 0-1 on the road.
Following Wednesday's match-up, the Cougars will travel to San Antonio to face UT-San Antonio on Sept. 6 at 7 pm. It will be the fifth meeting between the two schools with Houston leading the all-time series 3-1.
Last Time Out
The Cougars played host to the Houston Invitational last weekend, competing against then No. 6 Texas and New Mexico State. Houston played Texas Friday in front of a capacity but was unable to come away with the win falling in three games. Houston closed out the weekend with NMSU falling 3-1. Freshman Robin Fitzgerald led the way for the Cougars making her first two career starts recording 72 assists.
This Weekend
Houston will close out the weekend Friday and Saturday at the CenturyTel Premier Tournament in San Marcos, Texas. There they will meet Texas State and Missouri on Friday and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
