HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team held their practice today beneath sunny skies in shirts and helmets for preparation against East Carolina.
"Today was just a clean up day," head coach Art Briles said. "We wanted to make sure we got everything in line that we're trying to do, make sure everybody is on the same page. From a mental standpoint it was a good day."
The Pirates will be looking for a big win this weekend after taking a harsh 48-7 loss to West Virginia on Sept. 22. Briles however, isn't focusing on the backlash that could be brought to the Cougars' field. He's simply focusing on what the team has to do in order to win on Saturday.
"All we're going to try do is go out and represent us," Briles said. "Play our game, do what we do and do it the best that we can. We can't spend our time predicting how we feel like an opponent might come into a football game. We have to take care of us, and us taking care of us means we play with a lot of passion, a lot of effort and a lot of intelligence."
Tomorrow will be the final meeting for the team n the practice field where Briles will do some fine-tuning before Saturday evening's match-up against the Pirates.
"Tomorrow we'll do our final walk through," Briles said. "Go through all the special teams, personnel and then get our minds and bodies ready to play Saturday."
Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, David Klingler providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sideline. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff.
