Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Four

Orlando, Fla. -- The University of Houston volleyball team beat UCF Friday night in Orlando, Fla., earning their fourth straight win. The Cougars beat the Knights in three games with scores of 30-19, 30-26, and 30-17.
The Cougars (7-6, 2-0 C-USA) won their fourth straight game and their second straight in Conference USA. This is the first time since 2002 that Houston has opened conference play with two wins. The win gives Houston a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series with the Knights.
UH was led by freshman Hannah Sullivan. Sullivan registered 11 kills and just one error on 18 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage. Junior Justine Farmer added 15 kills and four digs and sophomore Kelsey King had 27 assists.
Both teams opened the contest battling tough in game one but Houston ended the game on a 9-3 run behind Sullivan's serving.
Houston took the early 10-3 lead in game two but the Knights battled back to tie the game 16-16. The Cougars fell behind 16-19 and were forced to call a quick timeout. They returned to the court scoring the next five points to regain the lead and would go on to earn the two game lead.
Looking for their second sweep in four matches, the Cougars stretched their lead to 17 in game three, 27-10 and took a commanding 30-17 win. Houston was led in game three by Sullivan's four kills on four attempts. Houston registered a .615 hitting percentage in the game while UCF hit -.038.
Houston out hit UCF .348 to .065 in the three game sweep.
The Knights were led by Erin Campbell who had 13 kills and seven digs.
