HOUSTON - The University of Houston wrapped up its first week, albeit abbreviated, of practice with a spirited two-hour-plus workout this morning in typical August humidity and threat of rain in the distance. The Cougars will return to the field on Monday after taking Sunday off.
"Honestly, we had a little more enthusiasm (this morning) than we did yesterday," said Briles, the 2006 Conference USA Coach of the Year, "but it could've been that yesterday was our first day outside.
"We're having some guys step up and be good leaders for us. We're finding new faces with new abilities, and that's what camp is about. So, I cannot find anything wrong right now."
The Cougars will practice all of next week, while a majority of the players wrap up the final semester of summer school. Two-a-days are on the horizon for the following week, as UH readies itself for the start of the Fall Semester on August 20.
