HOUSTON - Head coach Kyla Holas announced the signing of Casey Willow to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday during the recent signing period.
Willow (Tempe, Ariz.) begins her Cougar career as a freshman for the 2007 season. She joins Baillie Lott, Katy Beth Sherman, Angela Spittler and Jennifer Klinkert who already have signed NLIs with the Cougars.
"Casey is our first signee out of the state of Arizona," head coach Kyla Holas said. "We are starting to branch out across the nation in our recruiting and get our program's name out there on a national level. She will be a strong addition to the outfield and give us another left-handed bat in the lineup. I look for her excitement and attitude to be a lift in the outfield and her speed to help our on-base percentage.
Willow comes to Houston from Corona del Sol High School where she started in the outfield all four years on a region championship squad. Her team also was the 2006 5-A Division I State runner-up.
Willow recorded a pair of All-State selections in 2006 and 2007. She also tallied All-City and All-CFS Region honors from 2005-07 and was awarded CDS Defensive Player of the Year three times.
