Dear Cougar Softball Supporters:
I would like to take this time to say thank you for all your hard work and effort in making this a successful season for us. Without the support of each of you, our season could not have been as successful. This year saw our team set numerous records and return to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2004. This team was such a pleasure to coach and a positive reflection for this University.
To the Cougar support staff: I have not worked with a more dedicated group of people.
Marketing helped kickoff our first-ever Brest Cancer Awareness game against Texas A&M and allowed us to raise nearly $8,000 dollars for the Susan G Komen Foundation and pack the stands on a daily basis.
Ticketing made things much easier for the fans and parents this year, and we saw a record attendance of over 900 this year.
The facility crew helped us debut a new scoreboard and make us one of the top facilities in C-USA.
Our training room dealt with their share of injuries and managed to keep our lineup intact and help diagnose a potentially life threatening injury in C-USA Player of the Year Jessica Valis.
Academic Services provided our athletes with such valuable resources to help them achieve their academic goals and garner numerous academic awards.
Strength and Conditioning is the most hated and loved thing out there. We are so lucky to have a group of individuals that love their job and make it easy to work hard for. Those payoffs came in the recognition of Jessica Valis as a 2007 Strength and Conditioning All-American.
Sports Information did a job that is what connects us to so many of you. Our media guide, web site, photos and more came at the doing of hard working, detail oriented people. It takes a lot of diligence to make sure our athletes receive the awards they have worked so hard for on the field. That paid off in the naming of four C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors, two C-USA Hitter of the Week awards, C-USA Pitcher of the Year, C-USA Player of the Year, two NFCA All-South Region Second-Team selections and four All-Conference USA players.
It's easy to see why with this support, the constant attendance and assurance by our Cougar Crew, loyal fans and alumni that 2006-2007 was a great year. I honestly believe there are more great things to come for this program. Our staff is already back to work and looking towards next year. Hopefully, we will see you in camp or at the ball field soon. Have a great summer, thanks again and Go Coogs!
