HOUSTON - The University of Houston softball team (30-11, 11-1 C-USA) continues its Conference USA slate with a weekend trip to UTEP (24-13, 3-6 C-USA). The two teams will play a Friday doubleheader followed by a Saturday single game. This marks the Cougars' first trip to El Paso in program history.
"UTEP is another big series for our team," head coach Kyla Holas said. "It's a short week of practice in addition to traveling before playing a doubleheader on Friday. We need to stay focused on controlling the things that we have control over."
The Cougars have won 23 of their last 28 games. Three of the five setbacks during the streak have come against Top Five opponents. In fact, nine of Houston's 11 losses this season have come to currently ranked Top 25 opponents with five of those nine losses coming by a single run.
Houston is coming off a C-USA weekend sweep of UAB, including a 6-0 win in the nationally televised series finale on CSTV. The Cougars have outscored their opponents 64-13 in league games. All three games of the UTEP series will have live stats available via GameTracker on UHCougars.com
