For the third straight game, the Cougars put runs across in the first inning. Lormand led off with a single into left center and moved up following a walk to Zak Presley. After a wild pitch advanced both runners, Jimmy Cesario lifted a sacrifice fly into left field to plate Lormand for a 1-0 Cougar lead.
The score remained that way until the third inning when Nate Lape launched a one-out, solo home run to tie the game at 1-1.
In the fourth inning, the Herd strung together three straight hits and grabbed a 3-1 lead, thanks to Tommy Johnson's RBI-double and a Sanders' groundout that scored Vincent.
The Herd broke the game wide open in the fifth inning, scoring 6 runs off five hits, a wild pitch and a Cougar infield error. Vincent provided the big blast with a two-run double, while Valle, Cassamassima and Blake Sanders added RBI singles.
The Cougars added another run in the seventh inning when Fanaselle launched a towering solo home run over the right-field wall.
