HOUSTON-- The University of Houston football team held their second Saturday practice during spring practice drills. A scrimmage was originally scheduled to take place on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium but rain forced the Cougars to hold a regular practice and move the scrimmage to Tuesday.
"We had to change up our plans and what we ended up doing is having our Tuesday workout today and then on Tuesday we will have our Saturday scrimmage. I was really proud of the way our guys came in here with a lot of focus and energy; which we thought might happen inside. We bounced around a little bit and it got a little heated in a couple places but its spring ball and we have guys who are competing to try and make the team and be a starter on the team to help us win," head coach Art Briles said.
The Cougars held a two-hour workout on the indoor field at the Athletic/Alumni Center and with only one full practice left before the spring game Briles says there are still a few things the team needs to iron out.
"Today was a good workout. We just have one more full workout day left and that will be next Thursday, weather permitting. We are getting better. There are still a couple areas where we need to improve from the offensive standpoint," Briles said.
The team will practice next Tuesday, Thursday and Friday before the annual Red-White game at 10 a.m. at the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex on the UH Campus. A complete list of Spring Football Dates can be found at www.uhcougar.com.
