HOUSTON, Texas - The defending Conference USA Champion Houston Cougars return to spring practice tomorrow afternoon after taking last week off in conjunction with the University's annual spring break. The Cougars practiced three times before shutting drills down for 12 days.
Despite the long layoff, UH head coach Art Briles knows what he and his staff is looking for during spring practice.
"We're mainly trying to focus on cohesiveness and consistency in all three phases of the game: special teams, offense and defense," said Briles, the 2006 Conference USA Coach of the Year, "as we continue to evaluate personnel. The main thing about the spring is what we are trying to make sure we put players in positions where they're comfortable and they can make plays for us."
Houston is scheduled to practice at 3 pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and Saturday morning at 10 am over the next three weeks. The annual Red-White game is slated for 10 am at the Carl Lewis International Track and Field Complex on the UH campus.
