Track and Field to Compete at LSU Twilight Invitational

HOUSTON - The University of Houston track and field team will travel to Baton Rouge, La. Friday for the LSU Twilight Invitational. The field events begin at 3 p.m. and the running events begin at 6 p.m. The LSU Carl Maddox Fieldhouse, the site of Friday's meet, is a 200-meter un-banked track with seven lanes on the oval and 10 on the straightaway.
Some of the schools participating in the meet include: LSU, Alcorn State, Southern, Tulane, Southern Miss, Lousiana-Lafayette, UAB, Louisiana-Monroe and Jackson State.
This is the last indoor meet of the season before returning home to host the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Last Time Out
Last weekend the Cougars hosted the UH All-Comers Meet and competed at the Tyson Invitational. On Feb. 9 at the Tyson Invitational, senior Ebonie Floyd automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 60 meters and the 200 meters. Her times earned her the C-USA Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Senior Carey LaCour also provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 meters.
At the UH All-Comers Meet junior Ivan Diggs set a provisional mark in the high jump after clearing 2.18m/7-01.75, beating his previous season best of 2.16m. Just one week after setting a new Houston school record in the weight throw junior Amanda Villanueva recorded a second place finish. On the men's side seniors James Lee and Lucas Mireles turned in second and third place finishes in the shot put.
The Cougars turned in 19 top five finishes at the All-Comers meet including junior Oumama Hallal's winning time of 19:34.06 in the 5,000 meter run.
Up Next
After completing in the LSU Twilight Invitational, the Cougars will return home to Yeoman Field House to host the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship on Feb. 23-24. The meet will begin at 9 a.m. both days and the awards presentation is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on Feb. 24.
