HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team, practicing in full pads and helmets, finished up practice as the sun set over the UH practice fields.
"We've had two good workouts," head coach Art Briles said, "very intense, very self-motivated and very direct. The direction being the best that we've been all year in preparation."
Briles isn't worried about the Cougars coming back to win the game against Marshall on Saturday. He knows his team is committed to a win this weekend and as long as they are able-bodied they'll attain that victory.
"We feel like this week it's about us. We need to make sure we come into everything with the proper attitude, which we will. What we're working on is making sure our bodies are at the same intensity level as our minds because our minds are focused and dedicated."
The Cougars face Conference USA rival Marshall at 2:30 p.m., Saturday at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. Fans can hear Saturday's game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sideline. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff.
Fans also can follow live stats over the Internet by clicking the Gametracker link at UHCougars.com.
This weekend's game also will be televised live in the Huntington, W.Va., area on WOWK-TV with Dave Weekly handling the play-by-play duties and John Gregory providing color analysis.
