HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team heads west this week for its first road trip of the young season. The Cougars take on Cal State Bakersfield at 9 p.m. CDT on Nov. 13 before facing Cal Poly at 7 p.m. on Nov. 15.
Tip off is 9 p.m. Central.

STORYLINES
- Houston is 1-0 all-time against Cal State Bakersfield.
- The Cougars knocked off the Roadrunners 78-66 on Dec. 6, 2006 on Guy V. Lewis Court at Hofheinz Pavilion.
- Houston head coach Joe Curl, entering his 10th season with the Cougars, suffered a heart attack after returning from a recruiting trip on Oct. 27. He is out indefinitely while he recovers.
- Assistant coach Danny Hughes has been named the interim head coach.
- Senior guard Tye Jackson was named the Conference USA Preaseason Player of the Year. Jackson, who averaged 22.5 pgg in 2006-07, in the nation's third-leading returning scorer and a two-time First-Team All-C-USA selection. She opened up the season with 18 points against Texas Southern (11/09).
- Senior guard Twiggy McIntyre made her UH debut against Texas Southern (11/09). McIntyre had not played in an actual game in 587 days. She sat out the 2006-07 season to comply with NCAA transfer regulations.
- Following the Cal Poly game, six of Houston's next 10 games will be played against teams ranked or receiving votes in either the AP or ESPN/USA Today poll.
