HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team returned to the practice field Tuesday afternoon as it began preparations for this weekend's non-conference showdown at Alabama.
Working out under blue skies and hot conditions, the Cougars practiced for more than two hours in full pads on the UH practice fields.
The Cougars face Alabama at 2:07 p.m., Saturday at the Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sideline. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff.
Fans also can follow live stats over the Internet by clicking the "Gametracker" link at UHCougars.com.
CTSM will televise the annual homecoming game on a pay-per-view basis in the states of Alabama and Texas. The game will also be distributed on ESPN GamePlan through DirecTV and Dish Networks.
The Cougars (2-2, 1-1 C-USA West) come into the games after a disappointing 37-35 loss to Conference USA rival East Carolina last weekend at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. With that setback, the Cougars saw their Robertson Stadium-record five-game winning streak come to an end.
Although last weekend's loss was disappointing, Briles said he was not concerned about any lingering effects as the Cougars prepare to face the Crimson Tide.
"They'll bounce back. That's not a concern," said Briles, who is in his fifth year at UH. "We have a tough football team, mentally and physically, and we're going to play with a lot of passion. I feel very confident about how we're going to perform when it's time to get out there and go."
