Houston, Texas - University of Houston senior wide receiver Donnie Avery was named a Fourth-Team, Midseason All-American by Phil Steele's College Football Preview magazine, it was announced on Thursday.
Avery currently leads the Cougars in receiving, hauling in 33 receptions for 538 yards and three touchdowns. Joining Avery on the first team was a pair of senior offensive linemen in Jeff Akeroyd and Dustin Dickinson, as well as senior free safety Rocky Schwartz, who currently leads UH in tackles with 44, and junior defensive end Phillip Hunt, who has racked up 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
The second team is led by senior running back Anthony Alridge, who the Cougars' No. 1 rusher with 543 yards while averaging 188.2 all-purpose yards per game. Senior linebacker Brendan Pahulu, junior strong safety Kenneth Fontenette and junior defensive end Ell Ash round out the second team.
