Latson, Floyd Win Individual Titles at Dan DeHart Invitational

ALBUQURQUE, NM -- During the second day of competition at the Dan DeHart Invitational in Albuquerque, NM, junior Kolee Latson and senior Ebonie Floyd won individual titles as the Cougars finished second in the women's team competition and fourth in the men's team competition.
Seeing his first action since the Arkansas Invitational, Latson won the 400 meters with a time of 48.28. Coming in fifth was freshman Justin Perez (49.24), followed by freshman Justin Davis and senior Chris White coming in 14th and 18th, respectively. Sophomore LaNeeka Allen added a fifth place finish for the women in the 400 meters.
Floyd won her second 60 meter race in 2007 with a time of 7.35. Junior Seun Adigun added a sixth place finish with a time of 7.66. Floyd also took the top spot in the 200 meters with her NCAA provisional time of 23.44. She provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 60 meters at the Arkansas Invitational during the opening week of the indoor season.
After qualifying for the 60-meter hurdle finals on Friday, Adigun earned a third place time of 8.67 in the finals and sophomore LeeA'ndrea Robinson finished sixth. Junior Tremaine Smith also qualified for the finals in the 60 meters. He finished with a fourth place time of 6.91. In the 200 meters, Smith finished third with a time of 21.59 and freshman Pearson Crichlow added a sixth place finish for UH.
In relay action, the men's team won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:14.32. The women finished second with a time of 3:44.80. The women's distance medley relay team finished second with a time of 12:59.42 and the men's team finished fourth (10:27.05).
The Cougars had three top ten finishes in the men's mile. Leading the way was freshman Ahmed Harb with a fourth place time of 4:29.05. Freshman Daniel Martinez and junior Michael Malain added seventh and eighth place finishes. On the women's side, sophomore Kelcee Keenan finished the mile in 5:31.75 to earn a seventh place finish and freshman Jessica Cook came in 10th and senior Calum Neff added a ninth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.31.
Junior Ivan Diggs led the way for UH in the field events. He finished third in the high jump after clearing 2.11m/6-11.00. Senior Tristian Whitley finished 10th clearing 2.01m/6-07.00. In the women's triple jump, freshman Quin'shundolyn McPherson finished ninth and on the men's side sophomore Jeremy Kelley finished seventh. The men's shot put saw senior James Lee finish eighth with a hurl of 12.82m/42-00.75.
The Cougars will be back in action for a two home meets beginning on Feb 2-3 for the Houston Invitational and then on Feb. 10 for the UH RunSport All-Comers Meet. For meet information and a complete wrap-up of results go to www.uhcougars.com.
