Houston, Texas - Day Two of Cougar Camp 2006 is in the books, as the University of Houston football team wrapped up an early morning practice, that, despite the heat and humidity of August in Southeast Texas, turned out to be a sharp, crisp work out that the UH coaching staff enjoyed.
The practice was originally scheduled for the afternoon but was moved to the morning earlier in the week.
"We haven't dodged the heat, so to speak, in the first couple days," UH head coach Art Briles said. "We've been right in the middle of (the heat) both days, but (our practices) have been really good. Our guys have been active and mobile, and they have the right frame of mind, and to me that is the most important thing this time of year and all throughout the year.
"Your mind controls your body, so they're doing a good job staying mentally and physically tough."
The Cougars will wrap up their first week with a 10 am workout on Saturday morning. For the first time this fall, Houston will hit the field wearing shoulder pads.
