HOUSTON - Due to ongoing construction at Robertson Stadium, the University of Houston women's soccer team will move its first two home matches of the season to the Carl Lewis International Track Complex, head coach Bill Solberg announced Tuesday.
The Cougars are slotted to open up the 2006 campaign against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at 7 p.m. Friday. To close out the opening weekend, UH takes on Baylor at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Friday is scheduled as Campus Housing Night. The first 50 students to enter the Carl Lewis Complex will receive a free t-shirt. Fans attending the game on Sunday can take advantage of $1 ice cream.
Parking will be available in lot 15H, immediately north of the Carl Lewis Complex.
Robertson Stadium is undergoing a scoreboard renovation. Both the main and auxiliary scoreboards are being replaced as well as the facility's sound system.
Earlier this summer, new lighting was added in conjunction with the arrival of the MLS' Houston Dynamo who also play at Robertson.
The work is expected to be completed in time for UH's home football opener on Sept. 9 against Tulane.
The soccer squad does not play another home match until Sept. 6, when the Cougars square off with Texas Southern at 7 p.m.
