SKILLMAN, N.J. - Kami Miller and Yolandi Terblanche were honored Thursday for their hard work in the classroom as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2006 scholar-athletes.
A student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher grade point average to be eligible for the award.
It's the third consecutive year that Miller has won an ITA academic award. For Terblanche, it's her first ITA honor.
The duo went 18-1 at the No. 2 doubles position for the Cougars last season. The .947 winning percentage is a program single-season record. The pair also paced all Houston doubles combos, clinching eight points during the spring season, including an 8-5 win at No. 33 Mississippi State to secure the upset.
Houston finished 20-5 during the 2006 campaign and made the C-USA semifinals for the fourth consecutive season.
