Bateup, Miller Named All-Conference Selections

IRVING - Sophomore Brianna Bateup and senior Kami Miller were honored with first and second teams selections as Conference USA announced its All-Conference squads Friday afternoon.
After a 6-4 mark during the fall, Bateup kicked up her game up a notch in the spring season going 16-9 while splitting time in the top two spots of the Houston lineup.
Bateup was 11-5 in the No. 2 spot, including a 3-1 mark in C-USA action during the regular season headlined by a 7-5, 7-6 win over SMU. The All-Conference First Team selection is Bateup's first career C-USA honor.
Miller completed a 28-7 season, including a 20-5 mark during the spring season. Of her 20 victories, 19 of them were in straight sets. Miller was dominant picking up three double bagel victories and had three matches where she dropped just one game.
The Glendale, Ariz. native won 14 of 17 matches in her primary position of No. 4 singles. Miller also compiled a 6-2 record in the No. 3 spot. She ended her Cougar career tied for sixth in career singles victories with a 96-36 overall record. This is Miller's second C-USA selection after being named All-Conference Third Team a season ago.
