Softball Adds Doubleheader with Texas Southern

HOUSTON - Head coach Kyla Holas announced Thursday that the University of Houston softball team has added a doubleheader against Bayou City foe Texas Southern on Monday, April 24.
The two teams will play a doubleheader at the Cougar Softball Stadium with first pitch slated for 4pm. The twinbill replaces the Arkansas-Pine Bluff doubleheader that was cancelled on April 9.
"We are very thankful to Alois Blackwell and Coach Barker for adding these games on such short notice," Holas said. "Texas Southern has done a wonderful job stepping up for the SWAC."
The Cougars have played its crosstown foe in five of its first six seasons and have won all nine meetings in the series. The most recent was a 15-1 victory over the Tigers last season at Hyatt Regency Cougar Classic.
Houston (28-18, 9-6 C-USA) continues Conference USA action this weekend against Southern Miss (25-27, 10-5 C-USA) with a Saturday doubleheader followed by a Sunday single game. First pitch on both days is on tap for 1pm.
