Tennis Inks Neila Starratt

HOUSTON - Head coach John Severance announced Wednesday the signing of Neila Starratt to a National Letter of Intent during the recent signing period.
Starratt is from Bedford, Nova Scotia and is the No. 1 player in the Atlantic Region of Canada. She currently has a junior national ranking of No. 22 in Canada and will begin competing for Houston in the 2006-07 season.
"Neila is a well-rounded athlete with great tennis potential," Severance said. "She is already very strong and fit. We're anxious to put her in our training program and are excited to see her fast she excels."
The Cougars (19-4) are the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Conference USA Tournament with a first round bye. Houston will play the winner of the East Carolina and Memphis match Friday at 2pm in the quarterfinals at the Garland Tennis Center.
