Houston wins seven individual events and seven relays at TSU Relays

Houston - The University of Houston men's and women's track and field teams won seven individual events and seven relay races at the Texas Southern Relays on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, at the Alexander Durley Sports Complex on the TSU Campus.
Senior Jonathan Reeves and freshman Seun Adigun won two individual championships each. Reeves won the men's shot put with a mark of 18.04 meters and the men's discus with a career-best throw of 55.46 meters. Adigun won the women's 100 meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles with times of 12.05 seconds and 13.91 seconds while running against the wind in both races.
Sophomore Oumama Hallal was the women's 5,000-meter champion with a time of 18:09.59, while junior Caresir Hamilton won the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.31 meters.
In the men's division, junior Carey LaCour the first 100-meter race of his collegiate career as he edged teammate Preston Perry in the final. LaCour finished the race with a time of 10.57 seconds, while Perry had a time of 10.62 seconds.
They also ran on Houston's winning 4x100-meter relay team that had a winning time of 40.05 seconds. The other two runners on the relay team were Tremaine Smith and Justin McQueen.
Sam Fobbs was the men's 400-meter hurdles champion with a time of 53.79 seconds, and was a member of Houston's distance medley relay team won the race with a time of 9:58.18. The other members of the winning relay team were Sesar Figueroa, Chris White and Calum Neff.
Figueroa, White and Neff also teamed with Andy Morris to win the 4x800-meter relay race with a time of 7:36.87.
Houston won four women's relay races. Houston won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 44.99 seconds. Cheryl Garner, Octavia Garrett, Keisha Howard and LaDedra Guy combined to win the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.42, while Jennifer Hunt, Jennifer Harper, Adriane Guinn and Tiffany Abney teamed to win the 4x800-meter relay race with a time of 9:15.52.
Garner, Howard, Garrett and Hunt won the 1600-meter Sprint Medley relay race with a time of 3:58.83.
