The University of Houston football team ended preparations for Saturday's game at SMU with a two-hour practice on the UH practice fields Thursday afternoon.
The Cougars will travel to Dallas tomorrow for Saturday's game that kicks off at 2:00 p.m. at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the SMU campus.
The game can be heard live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with the pre-game show beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tom Franklin will handle the play-by-play duties, while former record-setting UH quarterback David Klingler serves as the analyst. Former All-Southwest Conference center Chuck Brown is a sideline reporter. The game can also be heard on the UHCougars.com website.
Houston enters the game with a 7-3 record and the Cougars lead the Western Division of Conference USA with a 5-1 mark after winning their last three regular season home games over UTEP, UCF and Tulsa. Last Saturday, the Cougars closed out its regular season home schedule with a 27-10 victory over the Golden Hurricane.
SMU is 5-4 overall and are 3-2 in C-USA play this season. The Mustangs enter Saturday's game having won their last six home games, the longest home winning streak since SMU won seven straight home games during the 1981 and 1982 seasons.
Houston has an 11-9-1 series record against SMU. The two schools played each other annually between 1976-95 when both were members of the Southwest Conference. Last year, marked the first time they played a C-USA game against each other, as SMU won a 29-24 decision at Robertson Stadium.
