HEAD COACH Art Briles
Opening Statement
"I am proud of our players for last Saturday's effort and outcome. Their intensity, their attitude and their determination was the difference in the football game, as it has been in the last three games that we have played. We have to continue on the same path and take it one game at a time. I appreciate the crowd we had out. It was an excellent crowd, a festive crowd. It was a great afternoon for college football and a great atmosphere at Robertson Stadium. All played into a big win for the University of Houston."
On playing on the road:
"You just have to go play and win. There is a challenge every time you step out of the locker room whether you are home or on the road. We have to play within the lines and go win for 60 minutes."
On SMU's finish to last season:
"We looked at last year's video. As far as last season, it has no consequence with us as far as what's going on right now. We are about earning respect. We are not sure we did a good job with that last year. We don't care if teams like us but we sure want them to respect us. And the only way you are going to get that is by beating them."
On SMU quarterback Justin Willis:
"He is a good player and very efficient with the football. He does a great job of leading their offense."
On the punting game against Tulsa:
"We didn't quite get the yardage we desired. Sometimes a pitcher is on, sometimes he's off, a batter is on and off and a punter is on and off. It was just one of those days were I don't think the flow was the way he expected it. He still has a locker, he still has a uniform and he's still our punter."
On the SMU game:
"We would like for all our fans that can make the journey to Dallas to go up and support us. It's a great opportunity for the University of Houston football program and we need people up there to support us. Come up there and help us out."
