TEAM NOTES
** Houston improved to 1-3 (.250) in the all-time series against UTEP... Saturday's game was the first time that the Cougars faced UTEP in Houston.
** Houston improved to 114-120-6 (.488) all-time in the month of October.
** Houston improved to 103-99-8 (.510) all-time against NCAA Division I-A teams from the state of Texas.
** Houston improved 7-1 (.875) all-time when playing on Oct. 21.
** With 412 yards of total offense, the Cougars topped the 400-yard milestone for the 28th time under head coach Art Briles.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
** Senior quarterback Kevin Kolb made the 44th consecutive start of his career... With that total, he added to his UH record total for the most consecutive starts by a quarterback in UH history.
** Senior quarterback Kevin Kolb's interception on the Cougars' last drive of the first half was his first interception in his previous 191 pass attempts, a UH record... Former quarterback Andre Ware set the previous record of 154 consecutive pass attempts without an interception on Nov. 19, 1988 to Sept. 2, 1989... Kolb's only other interception of the 2006 season came during the second quarter against Tulane on Sept. 9, 2006.
** With 262 yards of total offense (208 pass, 54 rush), senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past Louisville quarterback Chris Redman (12,129 yards, 1996-99) and set a Conference USA record (2001-04)... Kolb finished the night with 12,150 yards of total offense (11,458 pass, 692 rush) during his career.
** With 262 yards of total offense (208 pass, 54 rush), senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved into eighth place in NCAA career history with 12,150 yards (11,458 pass, 692 rush)... Up next in the NCAA records book is Texas Tech quarterback Kliff Kingsbury who racked up 12,263 yards of total offense (12,249 pass, -166 rush) in his career from 1999 to 2002.
** With two touchdown passes, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb recorded his seventh game in 2006 with multi-TD passes and the 24th multi-touchdown game of his career.
** With 208 passing yards, senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved into 10th place in NCAA career history with 11,458 career passing yards... Up next in the NCAA records book is Georgia quarterback David Greene, who threw for 11,453 yards from 2001 to 2004.
** With 39 plays (30 pass, 9 rush), senior quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past Cincinnati quarterback Gino Guidugli (2001-04) into second place in Conference USA career history... Kolb finished the night with 1,812 plays during his career... Up next in the C-USA records book is Louisville quarterback Chris Redman, who competed in 1,836 plays from 1996 to 1999.
** Senior quarterback Kevin Kolb's 14-yard touchdown pass to senior running back Roy Otis at the 7:18 mark of the second quarter was the 20th different receiver that Kolb has connected on a touchdown pass, a UH record.
** With two rushing touchdowns, junior wide receiver Anthony Alridge recorded the second multi-touchdown game of his career... He equaled his single-game high, first set against Tulane on Sept. 9, 2006.
** Senior running back Roy Otis' 14-yard touchdown reception at the 7:18 mark of the second quarter was the first touchdown of his collegiate career.
** With his catch around the 10:45 mark of the first quarter, senior wide receiver Vincent Marshall caught a pass in his 44th consecutive game... That set a UH record, topping the previous best of 43 straight games by wide receiver Orlando Iglesias (1997-01).
** Senior free safety Will Gulley's interception at the 4:03 mark of the third quarter was his second pickoff of the 2006 season and the 10th of his career.
** Sophomore kicker Ben Bell's 42-yard field goal at the 12:49 mark of the fourth quarter was the longest of his collegiate career... It topped his previous long of 38 yards set at Miami (Fla.) on Sept. 30, 2006.
** With two field goals, sophomore kicker Ben Bell recorded his third game and the sixth game of his collegiate career with at least two field goals.
