Baseball Announces 2006 Promotions

HOUSTON - Fans of the University of Houston Baseball team will have plenty of fun in the stands at Cougar Field this season with an exciting schedule of promotions and game themes throughout the 2006 season.
The Cougars open the 2006 season at the friendly confines of Cougar Field with a 2 p.m. showcase against Texas-San Antonio on Feb. 7. The first 500 fans who walk through the gates will receive a free UH 2006 schedule magnet.
One week later, romance (and hopefully Cougar home runs) will be in the air for Sweetheart's Day as the team faces Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m., Feb. 14. Couples who come to the game will receive a two-for-one admission on Valentine's Day.
On Feb. 22, fans will be able to enjoy performances by the UH Band and the Cougar Dolls with special appearances by Shasta and Sasha as part of UH Spirit Day against Northwestern State.
Fans also will be able to indulge in hot dogs for only $1 on March 24 against new Conference USA rival Marshall and on April 21 against Memphis in the first-game of a C-USA series.
Fans can reminisce and relive some of the greatest moments in Cougar Baseball history on Feb. 25 against Monmouth with the Alumni Baseball Reunion. Former players will be invited to the game and honored.
On March 7 against Lamar, students can enjoy Student Organization night with prizes being given away to the largest and the loudest student groups in attendance.
The Cougars' showdown against No. 36 San Diego on March 18 will be Little League Day with all kids 12-years-old and younger who wear their Little League jerseys receiving free admission.
As the Cougars welcome Marshall to the league on March 25, it also will be a Camper Reunion game with all UH Baseball campers being recognized during the game.
Cougar Field certainly will be a boisterous place on April 4 as the team celebrates Greek Night against McNeese State. UH fraternities and sororities will be honored with prizes for the most spirited Greek organization.
On April 9, fans will be able to Meet the Cougars for autographs following the team's showdown against C-USA rival and 12th-ranked Tulane.
On Kids' Day on April 23 against Memphis, inflatable toys will be available for kids outside the stadium, and all kids will be able to run the bases after the game.
The team will celebrate Military/ROTC Night on April 25 against Sam Houston State. Fans who show their military ID will receive free admission to the game, which features a Color Guard presentation in pre-game activities.
The Cougars will take part in Cinco de Mayo on May 5 when they play host to new C-USA rival UCF. Fans will enjoy nachos at discounted prices, while mariachi bands play during the game.
On May 7, fans can celebrate Senior Day as the team honors its 2006 seniors and enjoy random giveaways and ice cream sundaes as part of Fan Appreciation Day.
While those promotions will take place in conjunction with certain games on specific dates, one promotion will continue throughout the entire 2006 season. Any child wearing a UH Baseball Camp T-shirt to a regular-season home game will receive a free general admission.
