Houston Postpones Game With Southern Miss

HOUSTON, Texas - Due to the impending threat of Hurricane Rita, the University of Houston Department of Athletics today announced that its regularly scheduled football game with Southern Miss on Saturday, September 24, has been postponed. Either November 12 or 13 will serve as a makeup date, and more information on this will be released through the Conference USA office.
Earlier today UH Athletics postponed or canceled events in volleyball, women's soccer, women's tennis and men's golf.
"We had a conference call with Conference USA and made the decision to postpone the game," said UH Director of Athletics Dave Maggard. "We are in the process of rescheduling the game for either November 12 or 13, and hopefully we will have more information on this soon."
"We knew this postponement was of the utmost importance to ensure the safety of our student-athletes, coaches and administrators."
