HOUSTON - The University of Houston soccer team welcomes third-ward foe Texas Southern and in-state rival North Texas to John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium this weekend.
The Cougars (3-2) will take on the neighboring Tigers tonight at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Mean Green.
Houston is riding high claiming victories in three of its last four matches, including a pair of wins last weekend against Sam Houston State, 1-0; and Stephen F. Austin, 3-1.
On Friday against the Bearkats, freshman Courtney Gaines was clutch for the Cougars as she gave UH the deciding goal in the 88th minute on a penalty kick.
On Sunday, it was senior Kristin Bay who came through for UH. The forward scored two goals for the Cougars in the victory, one on an assist from Sarah Fisher and the other on a header.
Texas Southern (0-2) comes into the game still trying to rebound from a disappointing 2004 campaign in which they finished 2-12. So far this season TSU has been outscored 24-0 in two losses to Rice and Austin Peay.
364 days ago was the last time the Cougars and Tigers matched up, with Houston storming past TSU, 14-1.
North Texas (4-2-1) will face fellow C-USA member Rice tonight before making the trip to the Bayou city for Sunday's game. Last weekend the Mean Green tied Missouri State on Friday before capping off the weekend with a 6-1 thrashing of Sam Houston State.
