** The Cougars improved to 4-2 (.667) all-time against Sam Houston State and have won four straight games against the Bearkats.
** The Cougars' 21-point win over Sam Houston State was the biggest for UH in the all-time series against the Bearkats... It topped the 18-point win (43-25) the Cougars enjoyed against SHSU on Aug. 31, 1996).
** Cougars improved to 72-83-4 (.465) all-time during their history in the month of September.
** The Cougars recorded more rushing yards (293) than passing yards (206) for the first time since rushing for 369 yards and passing for 278 yards against Army on Sept. 18, 2004.
** With 127 rushing yards, running back Ryan Gilbert set a new personal single-game high and recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game... His rushing total topped his previous high of 95 yards at Southern Miss on Oct. 7, 2004.
** With two rushing touchdowns, running back Ryan Gilbert set a new personal single-game high in that category... It topped his previous high of one rushing TD set at Oklahoma (Sept. 11, 2004), at Southern Miss (Oct. 7, 2004) and vs. Tulane (Oct. 30, 2004).
** Wide receiver Perry McDaniel's touchdown at the 11:10 mark of the first quarter was the first touchdown of his collegiate career.
** With two touchdown passes, quarterback Kevin Kolb moved past Jimmy Klingler (39 TDs, 1991-93) into sole possession of fifth place in UH career history with 40 career touchdown passes.
** With two touchdown passes, junior quarterback Kevin Kolb recorded the 14th game of his collegiate career with at least two TD passes... It also was his third consecutive multi-touchdown game dating back to the 2004 season finale against Louisville.
** Wide receiver Josh Carethers' 15-yard touchdown reception at the 0:13 mark of the second quarter was the first catch and touchdown of his collegiate career... Carethers became the second Cougar wideout in 2005 to record a touchdown on his first career reception... Wide receiver Anthony Alridge posted a 62-yard touchdown on the final play of the first quarter in the season opener against Oregon on Sept. 1.
** Safety Kenneth Fontenette's interception around the 1:53 mark of the second quarter was the first pickoff of his collegiate career.
** With his reception at the 7:04 mark of the first quarter, junior wide receiver Vincent Marshall recorded at least one reception in 26 consecutive games dating back to the season opener on Aug. 30, 2003, against Rice at Robertson Stadium.
** Linebacker Brendan Pahulu's block of a Sam Houston State field goal around the 11:40 mark of the third quarter was the first block of his career.
** Kicker T.J. Lawrence's 43-yard field goal at the 14:45 mark of the fourth quarter tied his season-long set against Oregon in the season opener on Sept. 1
** Consecutive Starts Streaks: Senior defensive end Kade Lane made his 38th consecutive start, dating back to Aug. 31, 2002, against Rice at Rice Stadium... Quarterback Kevin Kolb made his 26th consecutive start dating back to season opener on Aug. 30, 2003, against Rice at Robertson Stadium.
** First Starts: Freshman defensive end Cody Pree and freshman outside linebacker Chris Pilot each made their first career starts.
