HOUSTON, Texas - For the third time this fall, heavy rain, lightning and thunder forced the University of Houston football team to move practices indoors, as the Cougars worked out for almost two hours this afternoon in the Yeoman Field House.
Despite the change in venues, UH head coach Art Briles still enjoys the progress his team is making.
"Practice was good again," said Briles, "even though we were forced in again this afternoon. Hopefully, we can get out twice tomorrow, but we got some good work done. The main reason we stay inside is so we can video (the workout) and teach off the video.
"The guys worked well, and they were very spirited. We're just closing in on September 1."
As the days are winding down for the season opener against Oregon in two weeks, Briles and his staff are beginning the process of whittling down the two deep, and so far Briles feels very confident in his current squad.
"We have a pretty good two deep right now across the board," added Briles. "All those guys we considered to be starters, and hopefully they'll all get to play against Oregon. We'll take it from there, and whoever has the hot hand will stay in there and help us the most."
Houston takes part in its final day of two-a-days tomorrow, working out at 9 am and later at 4:45 pm.
