Baseball Players Thriving during Summer Season

HOUSTON - Several University of Houston baseball players, former and current, have enjoyed tremendous success during their 2005 summer and professional leagues.
Junior righthander Brad Lincoln earned a place in the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game starting lineup for the West Team after batting .269 with four home runs and 19 RBIs for the Bourne Braves. The Clute, Texas, native also compiled a 2-1 record on the pitching mound with 47 strikeouts and a 1.58 ERA.
Sophomore righthander Aaron Brown competed in the Dr. Pepper Texas Collegiate League Futures Game at Ameriquest Field in Arlington, Texas. That game features 52 of the TCL's top prospects as selected by Major League scouts who cover the league.
Brown and current Cougar teammate Shea Hancock were selected to participate in the Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game. A member of the Coppell Copperheads of the Rogers Hornsby Division, Brown has posted a 3-0 record with 18 strikeouts and a 1.74 ERA in 20.2 innings.
Hancock, who plays for the Weatherford Wranglers in the League's Tris Speaker Division, pitched a 5-0 record with 33 strikeouts and a 2.30 ERA in 47.0 innings.
On the professional side, former center fielder Michael Bourn was recently named to the Hannaford Eastern League All-Star Game. This season, Bourn is batting .263 with 12 doubles, five triples, five home runs and 29 stolen bases in 39 attempts for the Double-A Reading Phillies.
Former righthander Garrett Mock has compiled a 10-5 record with 116 strikeouts and a 3.98 ERA in 133.1 innings for the Class A Advanced Lancaster JetHawks of the California League. With numbers like that, he earned a place on the California/Carolina League All-Star Game.
