Jones played with the Lady Cougars from 2000-2004 and set several conference and school records. She is the league and the school's all-time leading scorer with 2, 692 points, which makes her 13th on the NCAA Division I career leaders.
In 2003, Jones was the NCAA Division I statistical champion after scoring 27.5 points per game. Jones, who currently plays for the WNBA's Detroit Shock, was the University of Houston and Conference USA's first Kodak All-American in 2004 while leading the Lady Cougars to a 28-4 record and their first Conference USA regular season and tournament titles.
She was the third fastest player in NCAA history to reach the 2,000 point mark, doing so in only 84 games. Jones was named the Conference's Player of the Year three times (2002-2004) and Freshman of the Year in 2001.
She was named the 2002 National Comeback Player of the Year by the Women's Basketball News Service after an injury that forced her to miss the final nine games of the 2000-2001 season.
