Krystal Ward Finishes in 21st Place at the NCAA Championships

Sacramento, Calif. - University of Houston's Krystal Ward registered a 21st place finish in the women's heptathlon as she scored 5,110 points at the NCAA Championships.
Ward began the day in 12th place, before she began the day with a wind-aided leap of 17' 6" (5.33 meters) to score 603 points. Then she threw the javelin 128'4" (39.11 meters) before completing the day with 745 points in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.94.
Eastern Michigan freshman Lela V. Nelson was the surprise winner in the event with 5,794 points. Ranked 21st nationally entering the NCAA meet, Nelson upset heavily favored Jessica Stockard of Georgia, who finished with 5,775 points.
