HOUSTON - In her final year of eligibility, third baseman Kristen Glowacz of the University of Houston softball team was named to the All-South Region Second Team for the third straight season.
During the 2005 campaign, Glowacz led the Cougars in 10 statistical categories, set five single-season records, broke the Conference USA record for career RBI (175) and led the league with 17 home runs.
After a stellar freshman season in which Glowacz was named the 2002 C-USA Freshman of the Year, the slugger went on to claim seven league Hitter of the Week citations, was named the USA Softball National Player of the Week, and the C-USA co-MVP for the 2005 season.
Glowacz' first All-Region nod came back in 2003 when she became Houston's first player to receive All-Region honors as a Second-Team selection to the All-South Region Team. She then proceeded to turn in the statistics that earned her the same honor in 2004 and again this past season.
The only other player from C-USA to receive an All-South Region award was Louisville pitcher Aja Sherman, who too was named to the All-South Region Second Team. In all, seven C-USA members earned All-Region honors from their respective region of play.
