Cucci Inks Free Agent Deal With Falcons

HOUSTON, Texas - Former University of Houston tight end Stephen Cucci (Bradenton, Fla.) today signed a free agent contract with the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. Cucci was one of 12 free agent signings of the Falcons.
Cucci spent six seasons at Houston, overcoming two shoulder injuries and a hamstring injury to letter four years for the Cougars. Cucci played in 45 games at UH and finished his career with 41 total catches for 484 yards and five touchdowns.
His best season was 2002, when he returned to the field after missing the entire 2001 season with surgery on both of his shoulders. Cucci finished the year with 12 catches for 173 yards and three touchdowns and was named Second Team, All-Conference USA in the process.
Last season, Cucci had 12 receptions for 155 yards and averaged 12.9 yards per catch.
Cucci is graduating from the University of Houston next month with a bachelor's degree in sports administration.
