Miller Reaches 30 As Tennis Falls To No. 72 Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - Junior Kami Miller earned her 30th singles victory of the 2004-05 season as the Cougars fell to No. 72 Tulsa in Oklahoma over the weekend in a 4-1 finish.
Miller claimed the lone point on the day for the Cougars as she downed the Golden Hurricanes' Timberly Greenly in a 7-5, 6-3 match at the No. 5 spot, and pushed her current winning streak to eight straight victories.
The match began outdoors in high wind conditions, where Houston (12-8) was swept in the doubles pairings with senior Biljana Dimovska and junior Yolandi Terblanche falling for just the third time this season to now stand at 8-3.
The windy conditions eventually forced the match to move indoors where the singles action took place.
In singles play Tulsa pulled away from Houston as the Golden Hurricanes claimed four match victories. The contest was called with two matches unfinished at the No. 2 and No. 6 spots due to travel plans.
Freshman Brianna Bateup led Tulsa's Lisette Pereira and Tiffany McLoughlin trialed Tulsa's Kindsay Grimes when the match was called.
Houston will now prepare to close out the regular season at home with three matches scheduled for this weekend with UTEP, Sam Houston and Lamar, all coming to town.
The Cougars and Miners get underway on Friday, April 15, at noon, while Houston will face both Sam Houston and Lamar on Sunday, April 17, at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., respectively. All matches will be played on the John E. Hoff Tennis Courts on the main campus of the University of Houston.
