OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - University of Houston's Kristen Glowacz (Katy, Texas) and UCLA pitcher Anjelica Selden (Vacaville, Calif.) have been selected as Co-USA Softball National Collegiate Players of the Week for the week of February 28- March 6.
A phenomenal week from the circle and at the plate for these two athletes, Selden totaled 70 strikeouts during the Bulldog Classic in Fresno while Glowacz hit .667 blasting five home runs in six games.
A senior third baseman, Glowacz went a remarkable 12-for-18 (.667) with five home runs and 11 RBI as the Cougars posted a 5-1 record on the week, which included a pair of victories over No. 16 Nebraska. In the second game against Nebraska, Glowacz hit back-to-back-to-back home runs and drove in four runs to lead UH to a 6-2 victory. In the last two weeks, she is a combined 21-for-33 (.636) at the plate.
"I was feeling good, relaxed and confidant in myself that I was going to hit well," Glowacz said. "In those games, I didn't really feel any pressure to get a hit because I was so relaxed. It's like coach tells me, I just have to trust in myself that I know I'm going to be able to get a hit every time I come to the plate."

During the tournament, she allowed just one walk while striking out 70 of the 120 batters she faced on the weekend. She went 3-1 with a .20 ERA while recording two shutouts allowing just eight hits and four runs in 35.2 innings pitched. The 5'8" hurler held her opponents to a .070 batting average and was honored as part of the Bulldog Classic All-Tournament Team.
"Anjelica's performance this past weekend was impressive," said UCLA head coach Sue Enquist. "To execute at that level and throw back-to-back no-hitters within 24 hours is remarkable. We are very happy for her and for this recognition from USA Softball."
