Football Adds Another Signee on Friday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team added another signee to its already impressive list with the inking of wide receiver Jeron Harvey to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Art Briles announced Friday afternoon.
Harvey pushes the Cougars' signees list to 28. He joins the Cougar program for the 2005 season as one of the nation's most heralded receivers. Harvey was ranked at No. 59 on the Superprep list of Superprep Juco 100 and as the 11th-ranked junior college wide receiver by CollegeFootballNews.com.
Harvey, who played at Dodge City Community College during the 2004 season, was an All-Jayhawk Conference First-Team honoree after hauling in 52 catches for 956 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native, who is listed at 6-5, 210 pounds, recorded eight catches for 140 yards and two scores against Hutchison Junior College in one of his best games a year ago.
As a prepster at Jackson High School, Harvey had 20 receptions for 400 yards and six touchdowns as a senior. He was named to the All-Gateway Conference First Team after leading his squad to an 11-1 record in 2001.
Ball State, Middle Tennessee and Conference USA rival Louisville also were in the running for Harvey's services before he committed to UH.
