HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's tennis team looks to continue the winning ways of the 2004-05 campaign when they face No. 39 Texas A&M at the John E. Hoff Tennis Courts this Thursday, March 3.
Houston is coming off of a much-needed week of rest after playing 10 matches in 22 days. The last time out the Cougars crushed the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns 5-1 and improved to 8-2 on the season.
For the Cougars, senior Biljana Dimovska remains undefeated in singles play at the No. 1 spot with a 10-0 record. In doubles action, Dimovska holds a 6-1 overall record, and is a perfect 5-0 when paired with teammate Yolandi Terblanche.
Thursday's matchup with the Aggies marks the second time the Cougars have faced a ranked opponent this season.
Texas A&M comes into Houston after defeating No. 41 LSU 4-2 last weekend in College Station. With two different players ranked nationally in senior Helga Viera and sophomore Anna Lubinsky, A&M should prove to be a formidable foe for Houston.
The Aggies' Lubinsky is currently the No. 54 singles player in the country with an 8-3 record. Viera, despite her 3-8 record this season, holds the No. 72 ranking nationally.
The two old Southwest Conference foes will go head to head starting this Thursday at 2 p.m. on the main campus of the University of Houston.
