Bray Wins Long Jump At Tyson Invitational

The University of Houston men's and women's track and field teams had an individual champion and five other top five finishes at the University of Arkansas Tyson Invitational on February 12 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Brandon Bray won the unseeded men's long jump competition after he registered a leap of 7.29 meters (23-11).
Seniors Andrew Carruthers and Alicia Cave both provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the men's and women's 60-meter hurdles, respectively. Carruthers had his best time of the season in the preliminary rounds with 6.87 seconds. He had a fourth-place showing in the finals with a time of 6.90 seconds.
Meanwhile, Cave had fifth-place finish in the women's race with a time of 8.34 seconds.
Junior Sesar Figueroa had a fourth place finish in the men's mile run with a time of 4:07.90.
Krystal Ward had a fifth-place finish in the women's high jump after clearing 1.75 meters (5-8.75).
Caresir Hamilton also finished in fourth place in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.51 meters (41-0.50) after she finished 11th in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.60 meters (18-4.50).
Tom Rusteberg had the third-best mark in school history in the men's pole vault after he cleared 5.13 meters (16-10). Rusteberg finished in fourth place in the men's competition.
Houston returns home to host the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 25-26 in the Bill Yeoman Field House.
