HOUSTON - Houston Tennis got back on the winning track on Saturday, defeating visiting Texas Tech on the John E. Hoff Tennis Courts by a score of 5-2 to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Senior netter Biljana Dimovska continues to perform to perfection, once again the Australian native came away victorious at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions where she is now 5-0 and 4-1, respectively.
Teaming with junior Yolandi Terblanche, who also won her singles match against the Raiders, Dimovska and Terblanche defeated Drowning and Duru in a close 9-8 match to claim the doubles point for the Cougars after junior Kami Miller and senior Diana Martin teamed up to win the No. 3 doubles spot 8-5.
"We played a tough Texas Tech team today," said Houston head coach John Severance. "It is always tough to bounce back after a tough loss, but the team rebounded well and we're looking forward to some good matches on Sunday."
Also picking up wins in singles play against the Raiders were Martin and Miller who came away victorious at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots, respectively.
The Cougars will host a pair of matches against Texas State and Prairie View A&M this Sunday, Feb. 13, at the outdoor court at John E. Hoff Tennis Courts if weather permits. However, if weather forces the teams inside, the matches will be moved to the Chancellor's Racket Club.
