IRVING, Texas - The Southern Miss at Houston football game, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 24 before being postponed due to Hurricane Rita, has been re-scheduled for Sunday, November 13, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. The game will kickoff at 4:00 p.m. CDT at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
"The Conference appreciates the cooperation of those directly and indirectly affected by the Hurricanes as this has been a challenge," said Banowsky. "We particularly appreciate the understanding of the folks at Southern Miss, who have had two games rescheduled as a result of those storms."
In order for the Southern Miss-Houston game to be played during this weekend, the SMU at Houston game, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 12, had to be postponed one week. The Mustangs and the Cougars will now play in Houston on Saturday, November 19.
"We now have all of our conference games rescheduled and we are hopeful not to experience any further disruptions," added Banowsky.
Southern Miss, which also had its season opener with Tulane postponed to Nov. 26 due to Hurricane Katrina, won its Conference USA opener last week and carries a 2-1 overall record into this Saturday's game with Tulsa (CSTV, 8 p.m. EDT). Houston, which spent eight days in Tulsa after evacuating the city of Houston due to Hurricane Rita, closed its stay with a win over the Golden Hurricane on Saturday night that improved its record to 1-1 in C-USA and 2-2 overall.
