HOUSTON - The University of Houston football team continued to enjoy their second bye week of the season Wednesday afternoon. The Cougars worked out for about 90 minutes in full pads under sunny skies at the UH Athletics Complex.
The squad will have similar workouts on Thursday and Friday. Houston (4-3, 2-2 C-USA) will begin installing the UCF gamplan on Sunday after giving the team Saturday off.
UCF (4-3, 3-1 C-USA) travels to East Carolina this week and sits atop the Eastern Division of C-USA with Southern Miss. Head coach George O'Leary and the Golden Knights are one of the best turnaround stories in college football after bouncing back from an 0-11 mark last season.
Tailback Kevin Smith is fifth in the NCAA among true freshman registering 560 yards on the ground. Smith is also tied for second in 100-yard games for a true freshman with three.
Kickoff with the Golden Knights is set for 5 p.m. (CDT), Nov. 5 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. That game will be broadcast on KTRH 740 AM with Tom Franklin handling play-by-play and Tony Fitzpatrick providing color analysis. Former All-Southwest Conference center Chuck Brown serves as the roving sideline reporter.
In addition, the game will air on iTV, formerly known as PAX, and can be seen locally on DirecTV channel 255 or Time-Warner channel 7.
UH is boasting a 3-1 mark on the road this season, while the Golden Knights are 3-0 at the Citrus Bowl.
