Houston, Texas- - University of Houston The University of Houston football team concluded its preparations for their game at the University of Memphis Saturday afternoon in the Liberty Bowl.
"Practice has gone well this week," Houston head coach Art Briles said. "We have had good spirits and focus. It has been warm, but we are determined to play well on the road.
The Cougars head into the game looking to win their second straight Conference USA game and Conference USA road opener.
Houston beat Army, 35-21, September 18 in its C-USA opener on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium.
Briles is hoping to carry some confidence from the Army game and the Miami game into Saturday night.
"W e have confidence, but we need to build on that" Briles said. "It doesn't need to be false hope. Instead, it needs to be reality. We have to justify ourselves and Saturday would be great opportunity for us."
A victory at Memphis would be Houston's second straight Conference USA road opening victory. The Cougars also won their first C-USA road game in 2003 with a 27-13 victory at East Carolina.
"You need to control momentum, win the battles of turnovers and field position to win on the road," Briles said. "If we can control those things, we will have a chance to win a football game."
