HOUSTON, Texas - With a 30-minute scrimmage for the freshman and walk-ons, the University of Houston football team officially concluded the second week of their fall preseason camp. The Cougars will take Friday afternoon off and all day Saturday before settling in on their normal seasonal routine with a light workout on Sunday. UH head coach Art Briles thought the morning scrimmage was a fitting end to the second week of workouts. "We had a good week (of practice)," said Briles. "We had four good days, so we gave the older guys a morning off. They just stretched and worked on getting healthy like they need to. "We had a good little scrimmage with the other guys (and) had a lot of fun (and) bounced around a little bit. Both sides of the ball did some good things. We're just ready to get to Sunday and crank it up again. "We feel good about this week and we're glad it's over without suffering any major injuries." As mentioned, the Cougars will return to practice on Sunday with the first day of the fall semester looming on Monday. Sunday's workout marks the two-week countdown until the season opener against Rice in Reliant Stadium. --- www.UHcougars.com ---
