LaCour and Williams Are Named USATF All-Americans

College Station, Texas- - University of Houston freshman sprinter Carey LaCour and Cougar football signee Ivory Williams were named Verizon All-Americans with second-place finishes at the USA Junior National Championships on June 25-27.
In addition to earning All-American honors, both LaCour and Williams have qualified to compete for the USA Junior National Team at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Grosseto, Italy on July 13-18.
LaCour finished in second place with his fastest legal time in the 200 meters at 20.99 seconds. His best overall time this season was a wind-aided 20.65 seconds, when he edged NCAA All-American Stanford Routt at the Tom Tellez Invitational on May 2. LaCour also qualified for the NCAA Championships and had a fourth-place finish at the Conference USA Championships on May 13-15.
Williams, who signed with Houston's football team out of Beaumont Central High School, finished as the runner-up in the 100 meters with a wind-aided time of 10.30 seconds in the final. He had the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter preliminary rounds with a wind-aided time of 10.25 seconds. Earlier this season, Williams was the Texas UIL Class 4A State Champion in the 100 and 200 meters with legal times of 10.33 seconds and 21.38 seconds, respectively.
The top eight finishers at the USA Junior National Championships were named Verizon All-Americans.
The top two finishers can run for the USA National Junior Team at the World Junior Championships. However, they must have legal qualifying times set by the IAAF (winds under +2.0), be eligible to compete under USATF and IAAF bylaws, be between the ages of 16-20, and have a current passport to travel.
