UAB HEAD COACH LARRY GIANGROSSO
"It's a huge win for our program anytime you can beat a team in the country. We think of Tulane as one of the premier teams, not only in our conference, but also in the nation, so for us to come in play them is a tall task to do. Our guys responded well. I think it helped that we took two of three from them earlier in the year, that gave us a little bit of confidence.
"When playing somebody of this caliber, you have to have great starting pitching, an we got that out of Brown today. Then you have to score when they give you opportunities, because you know a team like Tulane is going to make some runs at you."
"They jumped out 2-0 on us and we responded pretty quickly, that was huge that we didn't let it get away from us. We just kept having runners on base with scoring opportunities, maybe they were back on their heels a little bit because of it."
"When Brown settled in he was able to make some pitches. It was big that he was able to keep them at bay in the middle innings where we were able to break it open."
UAB RIGHT FIELD COLE HELMS
On Facing Tulane
"We watch them (Tulane) hit all the time in BP and they have to be one of the best hitting teams in Conference USA. Fortunately every time we've played them our bats have showed up.
On UAB's team confidence against Tulane (having won two of three in regular season)
"Any time you play a top team in the nation you are like oh my goodness these guys are good, what are we going to do. Taking two of three from them gives you a lot of confidence coming in knowing that they are a good team, but we can beat them."
TULANE HEAD COACH RICK JONES
"It's hard to find a bright spot today with the exception of Brian (Bogusevic), he had a great day offensively and I thought he pitched well enough to win. You have to tip your hat to UAB, they just play so well against us and they played so well today in every faze."
On facing Southern Miss on Thursday in an elimination game
"That's why you play the games. If it was predictable we wouldn't have to have this tournament. Tomorrow is going to be a game that has a lot to do with seeding (for regionals). Obviously we don't want to go two and out in this tournament."
PITCHER/DH BRIAN BOGUSEVIC
On his pitching performance
"I was struggling throwing my slider and change up for strikes. I had to come back with fastballs and when they're ahead in the count and know a fastball is coming, they aren't missing it."
